C.A.R.T. (Children and Adults Reading Together) is a reading readiness program that is offered to children aged 3-5 in Cumberland County. Through a variety of stories, songs, games, and print related activities, the children will learn about letters and words and how they go together to form stories. Parents or caregivers will participate with their child and will learn new ways to introduce reading into all aspects of everyday life.

Virtual Programming
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CART was offered both in-person and virtually this year. All eight sessions have been posted on Cumberland Public Libraries Facebook page and will be available on our YouTube page starting January 2022. Research shows that reading success starts with young children enjoying stories. Having their parents share the experience with them makes it twice as much fun! Watch the wonder on your child’s face as they learn to love books and reading.
