LIBRARY BOARD MEMBER NEEDED!
We are currently seeking applications from individuals interested in serving as a COMMUNITY BOARD MEMBER to the Cumberland Regional Library Board.
Cumberland Public Libraries is seeking a Community Board Member, this individual will have a passion for public libraries and their contribution to the community.
They will bring a lived experience in diversity, equity, or inclusion, and foster productive discussion to move the library forward in Cumberland County.
Those interested should apply with a resume and cover letter expressing interest and outlining pertinent experience and qualifications.
The Community Board member will sit for a term of 2 years with an option to renew for an additional 2 years.
Time Commitment Required
- The Library Board meets 5 times per year for approximately 2 hours in Amherst or via Zoom.
- Serve on committees of the Board; frequency of committee meetings generally does not exceed once/month.
- Additional meeting scheduled for orientation.
Duties of the Library Board
- Determine and adopt written policies to govern the operation and programs of the library.
- Establish and monitor long range goals and objectives for Cumberland Public Libraries.
- Work with the Chief Librarian to carry out the library’s goals and objectives.
- Support and participate in planned public relations and fundraising activities.
- Adhere to the Libraries Act, its regulations and legislation.
- Attend Board meetings and committee meetings as assigned.
- Promote and advocate the value of public libraries in Cumberland County.
